Below are some examples of online campaigning in action.
Road Sense - Government consultation
Road Sense is a group opposed to the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. They wanted to encourage objections to the road during a Transport Scotland consultation and we were able to provided them with an online form which included optional pre-prepared points plus space for people to make their own comments. The web form, which emailed the objections direct to Transport Scotland, played a big part in the over 8,000 objections received.
As Road Sense stated in a press release (20 March 2007): “To put this figure of over 8,000 objections to the AWPR in context, the controversial £500 million Glasgow M74 Extension project sustained only 382 objections during its consultation process.”
Email your MP campaign
This was an online lobbying tool for No 2 Nuclear Power which provided a webpage where people could email their MP over a forthcoming vote in the House of Commons.
The user’s postcode was used to identify their constituency and MP, and a suggested but editable text for the email provided.
The message was then emailed to their MP, with a copy being sent to the user if they chose to supply their email address.
The client was also supplied online with live data on the number of emails sent, broken down by constituency.
Micropower Audit
We developed a website which aims to encourage the uptake of micro renewables. The site guides people on the appropriate development of micro renewables for their home. Through a series of simple questions about their home, the website makes various recommendations in a report which is displayed onscreen and can be easily printed out or emailed to the user.
